Frequently Asked Questions

You can’t really move appliances, can you?

Sure, in fact it’s what we are specialized in! The only residential furniture we cannot move are pianos.

How are you doing in slopes?

Uphill, we simply put our bikes on first gear and we pedal vigorously! Downhill, we use our hydraulic disc brakes to control our speed.

What do you do when it’s raining?

We have tarps to protect the goods that we move. As for us, we are not made from chocolate!

And during winter?

We have well deserved vacation!

Are you unique?

In Montreal yes, but TRAVERT Courses offers a similar service since 2011 in Rennes, France, as does Gentle Giant, a renowned moving company in Boston, since the beginning of 2012.

How did this idea came to you?

It’s when he discovered the existence of large platform trailers for bikes on the Internet, as he was working as a mover (by truck), that Julien had this strange idea. More details on our About page.

Where do your trailers come from?

Our trailers are imported from the United States. They are made by the company Bikes At Work, in Iowa.

What weight can your trailers bear?

Our trailers have a 600 pounds capacity (275 kg), which is equivalent to the weight of a small-size grand piano or an average-size upright piano. (However please note that we do not transport pianos, as we do not have the necessary specialized equipment.)

What streets do you take?

To avoid being an obstacle to traffic, we generally use the two-lane arterial roads. This way, the cars can pass us easily, which is not the case on narrower streets.

How do the car drivers behave towards you and your team?

The majority behave very courteously!

Couldn’t you add electrical motors to your bikes?

Of course, but our legs are enough. We also wish to show, with our work, how much bicycles are wonderfully efficient.

Why bicycles?

Because it’s good for our health, our mood and our shape. Because it’s pleasant, silent, affordable. It brings people together and gives us real freeom. Because it’s a secure and fast way to move in the city. Because it’s in harmony with the environnement in which we live and with the air that we breathe. Because, equiped with a trailer, it’s simply the most efficient and sane mean of transportation there is. Because on bike, every trip is an investment rather than an expense!

When business will be good enough, do you plan buying trucks?

Huh…
